An Everlasting Sunrise

While wandering through a field, I discovered an unspeakable amount of treasure. Seeing what it was worth, I sold all I had and bought that field.

This is the page on which words are not enough.

What to speak of King Christ, who left a throne to pay an unimaginable debt in his own physical, innocent blood? What to say of the loving Father, who has an eye for sparrows, a ring for prodigal sons, who leaves the flock to rescue one sheep? What to say of the Holy Spirit, mover of hearts, transformer of minds, opener of eyes- the Counselor, compelling wind, breath of God? A Mighty Fortress. A Bulwark Never Failing.

Alpha.

Omega.

Key to All Existence.

Our Souls' True Home.

The problem with not wanting to talk about this, is simply that we are all dying. We have all lost someone, or are going to lose someone. We are aging. We are weakening. We are losing our grip on the fleeting goodness of life. Another year older, another sunset, another illness, another funeral. "Nothing gold can stay," Robert Frost said. And unless we have sold all we have and bought that field...it is completely true.

But if we SEE that it is an unspeakable amount of treasure, if we taste of the heavenly bliss of knowing King Christ as our Savior- our ONLY lifeline, hope, and treasure- then what we feel in the transient bittersweet nostalgia of a sunset descending is suddenly flipped on its head. The temporal, earthly sunset is merely the prelude to an everlasting sunrise. Something gold will stay. Eternity in the Kingdom of God is a reality for those who place their hope and trust in Jesus. Selling everything we have- surrendering our earthly crowns, our imagined right to be our own king- is such an obviously, beautifully wise choice.

Taste. See. Treasure. Savor.

May King Christ return soon to those who treasure His holy reign.

Sincerely,
Natasha
